Get the Pier fixed
The Daytona Pier is an absolute shame and embarassment to our community. The state of repair is so bad that many have suggested demolish it and start over. This once proud landmark was host to major events and was fun for visitors of all ages. Today it is nothing but an eyesore and degrades the beauty of Daytona Beach. We need the people of Daytona to hold up a fist and speak out on this subject!

I agree that the pier is an eyesore. If it is not used and is in such poor condition then we must remove it as a safety measure to the public. Why throw good money after bad? I think the pier would look more inviting without this monster building on the premise.
ReplyDeleteIt is a travisty that you have to buy back something you already own.Someone is obviously squandering taxpayers money.Someone is benefiting from some sort of payoff. Wake up! Vote these self serving people out of office.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the Pier was a landmark to be proud of. The Mayor and Town Council need to make this a priority item. This is a primary reason for the lack of business and tourism in the area...no one wishes to be associated with such a bug infested, run down, shabby facility as this! I say clean it up or demolish it and let's move forward with a more positive image in our town.
ReplyDeleteDaytona Beach Pier, where $2 million is needed for structural stabilization and other improvements. The Pier was built in 1925 and survived two world wars. It part of our heritage and needs to remain there, It's our History!

Hold them to their contract to pay their lease and make the necessary repairs. That was the deal they agreed to. Don't pay them $$$ to walk away from their contract and responsibility. FH
ReplyDeleteGive it back to them so that we can wash our hands of it and they can sell to someone who can make it work. $500,000 token payment and George Anderson has his pier back.
